It’s not a AAA game by any stretch of the imagination but it has a surprising amount of depth in the combat and battle system. Her best ability is Identify as a ritual, but later on you have so much gold it doesn’t even matter.Īll in all I really recommend the game to people sitting on the fence. Knowing what I know now about the game, I would have made a Druid or Sorceror for Metamagic instead. Battle Cleric is a better caster honestly. While she has some utility, she feels somewhat redundant. I think I didnt enjoy a DnD RPG this much since ToEE. The degree of vertical exploration is very nice for a DnD game. The Shock Arcanist is probably my least important party member. my ranger with the egoism trait often presents suggestions whats best for the party, while altruistic characters offer different solutions. You’re telling me I have basically a nuker wizard, a heavily armored tank warrior and a healer in one character? Yes. Once I hit level 8 and took the feat to allow a bonus action attack, the Paladin became a wrecking ball.īut the true MVP is the Dwarf Battle Cleric. She’s still probably the queen of damage but after awhile the Paladin started pulling his weight. This is a great first effort and I’m enjoying myself far too much for a game like this. Add this combat in, tweak it, make some great characters and some better story and man they would knock it out of the park. Imagine what these guys can do with a big budget. BG3 does almost everything else “better” but this is just great. This combat is way better than BG3, sorry it had to be said.

I feel like I’m actually playing a tabletop session of 5E combat and I am honestly hoping the devs get a bigger budget and get another crack at a true 5E game. This game is very underrated as a CRPG probably because of the budget. This feels like playing your buddies home brew game, complete with cheesy at the table voice acting and story just good enough to care and keep adventuring.
